Hi friends! I’m back to share my incredible Switzerland trip! My best friend and I, Michelle spent six days exploring Zurich, Lucerne, and Interlaken, with two days in each city. From breathtaking views to delicious food, here’s a detailed look at everything we did and all the amazing places we visited.
Days 1-2: Exploring Zurich
We stayed right in the heart of Zurich, above a Spanish tapas bar (fitting, considering my love for Spain!). Here’s the link to our Airbnb: Zurich Airbnb.
After arriving, we grabbed some food at a lovely local bakery and explored the city before checking into our Airbnb.
Highlights from Zurich:
Lindenhof: Stunning panoramic views of the city—definitely worth a visit!
Grossmünster Church: We climbed the very narrow steps to the top, and let me tell you, the views made it worth the trek.
Accidental Wine Boat Tasting: This was a happy mistake! We thought we were booking a scenic boat tour along Lake Zurich but ended up with tickets to a wine-tasting boat. Since we had time to kill before our actual boat tour, we enjoyed the unexpected wine tasting, and it was so much fun!
Restaurants in Zurich:
Lunch at Restaurant Café Zähringer: A local spot serving authentic Swiss food—highly recommend!
Brunch at Haus Hiltl: The oldest vegetarian restaurant in the world, featuring a buffet where they weigh your food and charge accordingly. The food was incredible!
Zum Königstuhl: A cozy spot for fondue and classic Swiss dishes—perfect for dinner.
Day 3: Mount Pilatus and Lucerne
We drove to Mount Pilatus, where we took a cable car to the top. The views were spectacular! We hiked around the mountain and enjoyed a meal at the outdoor restaurant at the summit. Surprisingly, it wasn’t too cold to sit outside under the sun, even at that altitude.
Afterward, we headed to Lucerne, where we spent the next two days.
Highlights in Lucerne:
Kapellbrücke (Chapel Bridge): This iconic wooden bridge is even more magical in person.
Musegg Wall: A historic wall offering fantastic views of the city.
Lion Monument: A moving tribute to the Swiss Guards who died during the French Revolution.
Weinmarkt Square: A charming square perfect for strolling and soaking in the beauty of Lucerne.
Restaurants in Lucerne:
Pfistern Zunfthausrestaurant: A classic Swiss restaurant where we enjoyed traditional dishes while taking in the city views.
La Fenice: A great steakhouse—perfect for dinner after a full day of exploring.
Days 5-6: Interlaken and Beyond
On our way to Interlaken, we stopped at Mount Titlis. Unfortunately, the very top was closed for maintenance, but we still made it halfway up, and the views were worth it!
Interlaken itself was the cutest town. While some attractions were closed due to the season, we made the best of it.
Highlights in Interlaken:
Grindelwald: We took a scenic drive to this picturesque mountain town and loved exploring its charm.
Interlaken Lake Boat Tour: We unknowingly boarded a four-hour boat ride, but it ended in Thun, a beautiful city I would highly recommend. From Thun, you can easily take the train or bus back to Interlaken.
Restaurants in Interlaken:
Velo Café: The food here was amazing—10/10 recommend! Check them out: Velo Café.
Restaurant Pizzeria Landhaus: A cozy spot for pizza and Swiss comfort food.
Vintage Chuchichästli: Our final dinner in Switzerland, and it couldn’t have been better! The food was a mix of American and Swiss, the service was exceptional, and it was the perfect way to end our trip.
Switzerland was everything I imagined and more—breathtaking views, delicious food, and amazing experiences in every city. If you’re planning a trip, I hope this inspires your itinerary! Let me know if you’ve been or if you plan to visit. Until next time!
